Erin owns and operates Vivace Music Studio with the core values of making music education accessible, embracing challenge as a path to growth and celebrating community through music. She currently teaches at Ethos Music Center in Portland, Oregon and River City Rock Star Academy in Salem, Oregon.
As a performer, Erin specializes in chamber music and delights in connecting musical genres such as classical and Irish traditional or jazz and folk music. She performs with the Newport Symphony Orchestra in Newport, Oregon and Irish band Slugger O’Toole based in Eugene, Oregon.
Ms. Carey holds a B.A. in music from the University of Oregon and a M.S. in Arts Administration from the University of Oregon.
Erin Carey is an experienced violinist and educator, currently residing in Silverton, Oregon. Erin is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and she grew up singing and playing violin from the young age of 4 years.
Erin’s teaching style combines her years studying the Suzuki method as a child with a broad range of additional musical influences. Bring Erin your favorite song and you can most likely learn it on your instrument!
When not teaching or performing music, Erin will be gardening or playing with her two cats, Arthur and Sophie.
Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Ms. Ota recieved a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from Northern Illinois University, where she studied under Marie Wang. She has played in several orchestras since coming to the United States, including the Eugene Symphony, Newport Symphony Orchestra, Fox Valley Orchestra in Illinois, and Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra in Illinois. Keiko is a member of Oregon Mozart Players.
Addy has really enjoyed playing the violin. She is learning more about music than she ever would in school.
My daughter has learned so much since she began playing the violin! She has gained confidence. Learning is getting easier. The focus of class is really good for her. We love violin!
